What is Healing and how do we heal?

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

Healing is often seen and understood as fixing, many people come with the expectation to heal a particular issue.

For some, this approach works for many doesn’t. So, what is healing and how do we heal?

After many years of healing myself and working with others, my experience with healing has expanded.

I had the opportunity to see and also personally experienced profound healing that took place and at the same time moments when it seemed that nothing has changed and even an illusion of being healed.

Change is something many of us seek, there is a part of us that is looking forward to the change, yet the change often doesn’t manifest the way we think it would.

Often it takes time and effort, determination to overcome, to change something in our life that is so visibly, physically and emotionally present.

Healing comes in different forms, in small steps, sometimes invisible to our already heighten expectations. The subtle changes in our behaviour, in our reaction to the environment around us are often left unnoticed.

We feel we should be somewhere else, doing something else, so much further, we feel we are running out of time.

Healing doesn’t have this pressure, it unfolds just the way it needs to unfold, in its own time, in its own speed.

So how do we heal? The question that many ask, how long will it take?

Our healing starts with our decision to change something that doesn’t serve us anymore, by bringing awareness to our belief system. The other word for this is bringing the consciousness into unconsciousness, bringing the light into darkness, awakening, reconnecting to something that we already are.

We don’t judge the unconsciousness, we don’t make it wrong, we thank it for its wonderful job of keeping us safe, we don’t change the unconscious part either.

We transform the unconscious together with the conscious, we allow for both to be present, in a beautiful dance of life. We bring love and acceptance to all of us, honouring the sparks of the Divine that we are, forgiving the conscious and unconscious, the perpetrator and the victim within us. This is the only way to create lasting change, healing that supports us, that brings happiness and that allows for transcendence into our new truth.
